#4 Mecklenburg Bay 2016

From Sunday, August 28th, 2016 to Friday, September 2nd, 2016 we were sailing on the German Baltic Sea. We set off from the port of Großenbrode on the Liberta , a Bavaria 46.

We went via my favorite port of Kühlungsborn to Warnemünde and Rostock .

The last port was the modern port of Boltenhagen and then back to Großenbrode.

The weather was mostly sunny with temperatures between 16° and 23°. The wind peaked at 5 bft, but was mostly 3-4 bft from the south or west.

The Bay of Mecklenburg is a beautiful region on the Baltic Sea that is known for sailing. Here are some things that make sailing in the Bay of Mecklenburg special:

  1. The landscape: The Bay of Mecklenburg is characterized by a picturesque coastal landscape, which is characterized by sandy beaches, dunes, forests and picturesque fishing villages. While sailing, you can experience the natural beauty of this region and be enchanted by the fresh sea breeze.

  2. The waters: The Bay of Mecklenburg offers excellent sailing conditions as the water is generally calm and shallow. There are also many sheltered bays and anchorages that are perfect for a break or an overnight stay.

  3. The infrastructure: The Mecklenburg Bay is well developed for sailing. There are many marinas and moorings along the coast, providing sailors with easy access to utilities such as fuel, water and electricity. There are also many restaurants and shops nearby, providing sailors with a comfortable environment.

  4. The sights: The Bay of Mecklenburg has many historical and cultural sights to offer. From medieval castles to traditional fishing villages, there are many places to discover and explore.

  5. The sailing events: The Mecklenburg Bay also hosts many sailing events, including regattas and sailing weeks. These events offer sailors the opportunity to improve their skills and meet other sailors.

Overall, the Bay of Mecklenburg is a great sailing area with a rich culture and history, beautiful scenery and excellent sailing conditions. It is a place to visit if you are an avid sailor or just want to enjoy the beauty of the Baltic Sea.

In total we sailed a good 70 nautical miles.
